Hello!
I had written out something different in this section, but woke up in the middle of the night with a strong feeling to write something else. This is what I felt prompted to write:
I was offered the an amazing opportunity for my internship that could lead into something after graduation. I am not going to go into details here, but it was pretty awesome. I was pretty excited for it, but there was something unsettled inside me. I prayed about it, and the feelings didn’t go away, they only intensified. I spoke to my mentors about it. I took more time to pray. I didn’t feel peace.
So I said no. It wasn’t easy to do, but I felt like God was leading me somewhere else. I have no idea what it is, but I know that in this season, He didn’t want me to say yes. I am trusting in Him, even when it doesn’t make complete sense to me. God is good and knows best.
Remember, it is sin to know
what you ought to do
and then not do it.James 4:17 (NLT)
Serving in New Ways
I got an urgent phone call from the church I attend here in New Brunswick. I picked up the phone and found that it was the leader of their front line service team. All of their parking team was unable to come and they needed someone else and they wanted me to come serve.
I have never directed traffic or been an official greeter, but I agreed because Christ’s church needed someone to serve. It was pouring rain by the end of the service and it was freezing. It was a healthy reminder that serving isn’t always upfront and comfortable, sometimes it’s serving in the nitty gritty jobs.
Running the Race
Every fall, Kingswood holds a 5K race and every year I say I will not race it again, and yet again, I ran it due to peer pressure of my “friends” who enjoy running them. I didn’t set a record time or run it without regretting the decision the whole time, I did finish the race and didn’t come last. Even when it’s hard it’s important to persevere
Birthday Party
This month contained Laurel’s birthday so McCaila and I planned her a surprise birthday party. We got her to come to the studio by telling her we would be shooting merchandise photos for the Kingswood. Once she arrived, she was surprised by her family and friends who had gathered for the party!
Equipping the Local Church
God has given me the skills of media production and I am thankful that I get to use them to help equip Youth Pastors. Brent Dongell, the youth professor at Kingswood, writes and delivers videos on topics that are very beneficial to those who are currently serving. You should check them out.
